On September 15th, the managing partner of the investment company Chernovetskyi Investment Group (CIG) Vladimir Kryvko said that the company is expanding its investment operations and is actively considering off-line projects in agriculture.

Until now, we have been investing exclusively in Ukrainian and foreign on-line services (Zakaz.ua, Doc.ua, Eda.ua, Busfor, Kidoz and others) but now we are expanding the company's investment focus.

From now on, we will invest in Ukrainian agro-projects. This decision takes into account the underestimated potential of Ukrainian agro-industrial complex in terms of investment. We believe that Ukrainian agriculture, much like Ukrainian IT industry, has great chances to become a leader not only in Europe, but in the world.

The CIG managing partner says: "It is not an accident that we have chosen an agricultural sector and investment in off-line projects. First of all, Ukraine has a huge potential in agriculture. Only 100 years ago, it was considered a key player in this market. Today, like a century ago, the share of agro-industrial complex in Ukrainian economy is impressive. In 2014, it became the largest source of the country's foreign currency earnings. In 2015, Ukraine exported $14.5 billion worth of food and agricultural products, which constituted 38% in the total structure of exports (metallurgy with a share of 24.8% remained far behind). Regarding grain exports, in 2014-2015 Ukraine was the world’s third largest exporter after the US and the EU. We are sure that in the coming years the agro-industrial complex can become the leading sector in Ukraine.

Secondly, this industry cannot be effectively developed without technologies and innovative approaches. In Ukraine, however, agro-business is run in a conservative old-fashioned way. This offers huge opportunities for increasing yields per unit of area by adopting the technologies long in use in the US and Europe.

Finally, what I would specifically emphasize is the belief in our farmers – they are very industrious, love for the land is in their blood. After all, by some accounts, every seventh Ukrainian is involved in agriculture, and it has always been the case! We believe that with sufficient funding, latest technologies, and Ukrainian work culture, Ukraine will soon be the world's leading player in the food market."

We welcome everyone with interesting projects in agro-business who is looking search for the investments.
