On 23 September 2019, Chernovetskyi Investment Group (CIG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Lviv National Polytechnic University.

The university will be the third one to join CIG R&D LАВ – an educational scholarship program aimed at encouraging students and young scientists to advance their tech projects and, ultimately, launch their own start-ups supported by CIG.

“Ukrainian higher education has long been detached from business. Two years ago, in cooperation with Odessa National Polytechnic University, we launched CIG R&D LАВ. Last year, Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute joined the program. Now, we are glad to welcome Lviv Polytechnic to the team, – says Volodymyr Kryvko, CIG Managing Partner. – For us, this is an opportunity to promote local tech projects and generally, foster Ukrainian IT market.”

“There are approximately 37,000 students at Lviv Polytechnic. Obviously, we are not looking to include all of them. And it would be unnecessary. Our goal is to reach out those who are eager to work and bring their ideas to life, – Yurii Bobalo, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, says. – We focus on dual education: flexible class attendance and flexible work schedule. That way, students can invest time and efforts in their careers starting from their third year, particularly at the IT companies. Although businesses are not always willing to invest in future specialists, CIG R&D LАВ provides an opportunity for the students to collaborate and work on their own projects and future business”.

CIG R&D LАВ participants will receive CIG scholarships and expert support throughout the year and will compete for a project development grant at the end of the season.
